DOW SEEKS RIFLE AREA VOLUNTEERS
Do you love wildlife and have some time to volunteer? The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will host an orientation meeting for anyone interested in helping with several upcoming projects. The session will also serve as an orientation/interview session for volunteers interested in serving on the area Wildlife Rescue Team.
The orientation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rifle Fire District Conference Room C, 1850 Railroad Ave., Rifle, Colorado.
The Wildlife Rescue Team assists the DOW by responding to calls regarding orphaned and injured wildlife. The animals are transported to wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, or to the local DOW office. Capture and transport equipment and training are provided, but volunteers must have a dependable vehicle.
Volunteers can also learn about habitat enhancement projects, animal trap-and-transplant operations and other upcoming wildlife activities where help is needed.
RSVP by Tuesday, Feb. 5th to confirm your attendance or to get more information regarding these or other volunteer opportunities, contact Linda Edwards, DOW volunteer coordinator at (970) 255-6145, linda.edwards@state.co.us. ###
