LEFTOVER BIG GAME LICENSES AVAILABLE AUG. 10 AT LICENSE AGENTS
As in years past, Colorado ’s leftover big game licenses from the 2004 drawing will go on sale Aug. 10 on a first-come first-serve basis. Colorado license buyers will enjoy the added convenience this year of being able to purchase these licenses beginning at 9 a.m. at all license agents throughout the state.

MILITARY PREFERENCE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE 2004 BIG GAME SEASONS
In 2003 the Colorado Wildlife Commission approved action to allow members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were unable to comply with the 2003 big game application deadline due to the conflict in Iraq to receive a preference point and the opportunity to purchase leftover licenses prior to the public sale. This opportunity will remain available for the 2004 big game seasons.

This is just a reminder that public comments and input are being taken for the 2005-2009 Big Game Season Structure.  All comments need to be in by July 26 so that they can be compiled and the results shared and taken into consideration for future decisions with the DOW staff and the Wildlife Commissio.

Extracted from the DOW INSIDER (7/8/04)

“The moose populations are doing well,” Holland said. “The populations are increasing and their range is expanding.” Biologists say current moose populations are estimated at 500 animals in North Park and 250 in Middle Park with ranges expanding into Summit County, Gunnison, western Larimer and Boulder Counties and new areas in Routt County. Colorado’s population is now estimated at between 1,300 and 1,400 individuals statewide.
