More Deer in the Colorado Springs area tested for wasting disease


The DOW has captured and taken tonsil biopsy samples from 10 deer in the southwest part of Colorado Springs this past week. An additional 10 will be captured and biopsies taken later in the next few days. Test results have not been completed as of this posting. The Colorado DOW has found a way to test tonsils on live deer in lieu of brain samples taken on dead deer, I do not know at this writing if tonsil tests can be done on elk and if there will be a change in the necessity to send the heads in for testing.
